Dear Friends
Greetings from Safar!
Safar is going to organize VIKALP a 10 day residential camp in the
Tariyani Chhapra Village of Bihar from 22nd to 31st December 2007. The
main aim of this camp is to explore various tools and ways of
communication, which give the participants some food for thought. The
camp will provide an opportunity for them to share their knowledge &
skill and to have an experience of rural life. We hope that it will
help the participants to begin a journey of their choice.
VIKALP is designed in such a way that it becomes an interesting
interactive learning experience. The participants will make
acquaintance with the new media technologies, interview the villagers,
and shoot photographs and videos. They will play with sound & images,
design books, make comics, write stories, poems, etc. Besides, there
will be a couple of community meetings, where the participants will
get to know about the local way of living, arts & crafts, culture and
practices.
No formal qualification is required to attend the workshop. We are
asking that people cover their own travel to-from Tariyani Chhapra and
contribute Rs.500 for food, accommodation and other accessories. Your
additional contribution will support other's participation. Safar is a
self-funded organization. It accepts event/program based support from
friends and well-wishers.
All are welcome, and please share the invitation with others. Last
date of registration is 25th November 2007. Let us know as early as
possible if you are interested in coming.
Tariyani Chhapra is 40 kilometers from Muzaffarpur Railway Station.
There are direct trains from almost all major cities to Muzaffarpur.
