SUB:- Separate Gender Identification and specific UID – For Eunuchs.
Sir,
We are running an organization in the name ‘Syed Shah Farzand Ali Educational & Social Foundation of India’, comprising of large community of intellectuals, doctors, national & international social activists, academicians and sport person. The organization chooses such people who are motivational, conscientious, and intellectuals with deep sense of commitment. Our approach is long term and leveraged. The organization works on social and educational issues of the society irrespective of cast and religion. We are working for the last may years in Maharashtra, MadhyaPradesh, Gujrat, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi and near by areas mainly concentrating on the welfare of women, children and eunuchs, from the deprived group and down trodden group of the society, in respect of their education socio-economic and health status.
Since we are deeply associated with the eunuchs for many years in different states, we have observed that for the upliftment of eunuchs, a lot has to be done. According to the survey of non-government organization in the year 1995 there were approximately 70 laks of eunuchs in India, which must have increased to 1 crore by now. Which makes them a very important part of the country.
Now time has come that they should be taken on priority level. We have passed from very difficult phase and after vigorous efforts and determined attempt, we were able to persuade Chief Election Commissioner, (letters for all correspondence is enclosed) and we achieved success in terms historical decision given by the election commission, that eunuchs will be given separate category, during voting time.
We feel presently Govt. has no authentic figure of eunuchs in India. Without having the actual figure it is very difficult, if not impossible to do the genuine work for the welfare of the eunuchs. So now it becomes the utmost responsibility to have the correct figure of eunuchs in India. It is suggested eunuchs should also be counted separately, during census 2011 and should be considered in the separate category like separate category given in voters id.
Without raising eunuchs socially and economically, comparable to the rest of the community, a dream of changing India from the developing country to developed country will be very difficult. This group is deprived of all the developments and benefits of the country from the very beginning, their condition is very pathetic and till date no individual govt. has taken pains to even think about them, as if they do not exists.
Now since Govt. has taken step of making UID (Unique Identifier) Cards, we wish that if possible specific UID card could be made available for eunuchs so that they can be easily identified and the Govt could come to know the exact number of eunuchs and also whenever any program from government is organized for them, it will easily reach to these eunuchs and they can make proper use of the same. Eunuchs comprises a large group of the society and it is our responsibility to bring them into the main stream to make a better society, a better nation and above all a better human being.
According to the Govt website (www.censusindia.gov.in) it is mentioned that Govt will advertise through print and electronic media, motivational programs for the public to co-operate the enumerators visiting individuals house in the same way it is requested to run motivational programs separately for eunuch community also.
As we have mentioned above, we have deep presence amongst eunuchs and in many states we are working for the welfare of eunuchs, we have lot of information regarding their status and strength. We wish earnestly to discuss on this matter personally, as and when your good Self could spare some time, at your convenience.
In the end we would like to request your good self to give a serious thought and take
necessary step on this.
An early and positive response will highly be appreciated.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
(Dr. S. E. Huda)
